Carl Claunch: Keynote Presentation BIO
WSTA’s keynote presentation will be given by Carl Claunch from Gartner. Carl is a vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner Research. He conducts primary research into grid computing, its markets and technologies, as well as cluster computing. Technology trends in the server space are a key focus for him, tracking such shifts as multicore and heterogeneous systems. In addition, Mr. Claunch conducts integrative research across all areas of IT, highlighting significant trends, technologies and directions in presentations and special reports. Carl has 37 years of experience in the high-technology area. Prior to joining Gartner, he spent 18 years working at a major vendor in a variety of marketing, product management and planning roles. He has worked for IT users in fields such as banking, financial services and manufacturing, as well as for vendors and as a consultant.
Alex Henthorn-Iwane, Vice President of Product Marketing, Packet Design, Inc.
Alex Henthorn-Iwane is Vice-President of Product Marketing at Packet Design, Inc., and has 17 years experience in the design, development and deployment of IP network infrastructure, security, policy and network management products and technologies in enterprise, government and Service Provider environments. Henthorn-Iwane has previously been director of product management at CoSine Communications, Inc, Corona Networks, Lucent Technologies and Livingston Enterprises/Lucent Technologies; and held systems engineering management posts with Fibronics America.
Rick Dalmazzi, CEO of VoIPshield Systems, Inc.
Rick is a security industry veteran with over 10 years of experience running software companies. Prior to joining VoIPshield, Rick was President & CEO of Symbium Corp., a company doing pioneering work in applying telecom architectures and principles to IT systems management and security. Before Symbium, Rick was President and CEO of Certicom Corp., a developer of wireless and wireline security technology, headquartered in Silicon Valley during Rick's tenure. Certicom's customers included enterprises, telecomm carriers, telecomm infrastructure vendors, and device manufacturers. Rick holds a Mathematics and Computer Science degree from University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Amit Sinha, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, AirDefense, Inc.
Dr. Amit Sinha, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer specializes in wireless communications and network security. Prior to joining AirDefense, he served as Vice President and Chief Technologist at Engim, a company he co-founded. At Engim he designed 802.11 modems and was responsible for the core technology portfolio of the company. Prior to Engim, he held various research positions at MIT, Hewlett Packard Laboratories, Intel Corporation and Texas Instruments. Dr. Sinha is an accomplished researcher with more than 25 referred papers published in technical journals and conferences. In addition, he is a contributing author to three published books. He is also the author of 15 patents dealing with different inventions in 802.11 infrastructure and wireless security.
Dr. Sinha received his S.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, and his B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India where he was awarded the President of India Gold Medal for graduating summa cum laude.
Dennis Boas, Security Solutions, Enterasys Networks
Dennis has over 35 years of experience working in the computer and networking security environments. Starting with the ARPANET in the early 70’s, his experience includes network management, network design, network security design, security analysis, security product management and training.
He has written technical papers, articles and training courses in a wide variety of data and network security areas and has been a speaker and session chair for industry conferences. Dennis has recently been a speaker at the Indiana Higher Education Technology Summit, Alabama College System Information Services Association, Georgia Association of Managers of Educational Information Systems and the IDEA Information Security Summit.
In addition to Enterasys, Dennis has worked with Lucent Technologies, Xedia, Nortel Networks, Bay Networks, Wellfleet, Digital Equipment Corporation, Military Intelligence, the Army Security Agency, and the National Security Agency.
Jonathan Gohstand, Vice President of Marketing, PacketMotion
Jonathan Gohstand has been working in the IT industry for more than 20 years. Before joining PacketMotion, Jonathan worked for Cisco Systems, serving as director of marketing for the security technology group, where he managed marketing for the IOS-based security business that grew more than 400 percent during his tenure. He has also held international positions with Chevron Oil and FORE Systems in addition to serving in consulting and channel roles.Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, and he earned an M.B.A. from St. Mary’s College of California.
Rajiv D. Shetty, National Manager, Data Solutions,PAETEC
Rajiv D. Shetty is responsible for driving business & sales data product strategy for PAETEC. Mr. Shetty has a concentrated focus on VoIP solutions with over ten years of industry experience, previously with NTT/Verio. Responsibilities include large-scale & highly-complex strategic customer migrations to data solutions, managing interoperability programs with customers & manufacturers, training of sales channels, creating & revising business processes, with an overall goal of increasing customer satisfaction & retention.
Jim McTiernan, Technology Architect, Avaya
Jim McTiernanis an architect within Avaya’s CTO organization. Jim’s primary responsibilities include the evaluation of emerging technologies and forward-looking architectural planning. Additionally, Jim is the lead technical resource for turret integration at Avaya. Previous to his current position, Jim served as a solutions engineer for Avaya supporting a major Fortune 500 financial services account.
Charles Miscampbell, Product Group Manager, Speakerbus
Charles Miscampbell is a Product Group Manager at Speakerbus headquartered in Hoddesdon, UK and New York City, NY. Charles’ responsibilities include product development, deployment and support of standards based trader voice solutions. Charles has global experience in product definition, design and implementation and has recently introduced a SIP turret enabling a new level of interoperability between trader voice solutions and commercial SIP-enabled IP-PBXs. Speakerbus is a market leader in delivering integrated Trader Voice solutions.
Hadley Reynolds, Vice President and Director, Centre for Search Innovation, FAST, a Microsoft company.
Hadley Reynolds is Vice President and Director of the Centre for Search Innovation at FAST, a Microsoft company. He has been an industry thought leader in search, content, and knowledge management for over a decade, researching, speaking, and writing on emerging trends in these technologies and their impact on business practice. At FAST, he publishes the company’s FAST Innovation Journal, manages the popular FASTforward blog, and provides opportunities for dialog between industry thought leaders, FAST R&D, and pioneer customers worldwide. Prior to FAST, he was Director of Research at industry analyst Delphi Group, where he led the firm’s coverage of the business impacts of search and other technologies for managing unstructured information.
Amy Lyn Anderson
Associate Product Director, AT&T Enterprise Hosting Services
Amy Lyn has been with AT&T’s Enterprise Hosting Business since 2000. She is currently responsible for the creation of emerging services (virtual and utility computing). Prior, she led teams responsible for operational process and service delivery. During her tenure with the hosting business, AT&T has risen from a niche hosting player to the Leader’s spot in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.
Amy joined AT&T as an Electronics technician in 1988. Since then she has held various positions and managed technical teams in Global ITS and Network Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
Amy graduated from High Point College with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education – Recreation.
Amy and her husband Doug, reside in Basking Ridge, NJ with their three children and their three dogs.
