New York, NY (April 8, 2013) – Social business is in its infancy. Organizations are now discovering that being a social business is so much more than engaging in social media marketing to becoming more operationally focused. Optimized social business processes affords organizations the ability to co-create with customers in ways that can impact core operations – from increasing customer loyalty, new product development, delivering integrated customer service and accelerating R&D efforts to truly reflect the needs articulated by the audience. In order to achieve an integrated strategy, organizations can benefit from taking a federated approach to leveraging the social experience.

Research and experience has demonstrated that the most significant value drivers – from cost reductions to innovation revenue – are often found through a multi-disciplinary approach. Currently, social strategy as we know it is being led by marketing but, not dissimilar to the early days of the World Wide Web, IT, marketing and operations need to play a starring role in the strategy development of social business. Consequently, technology leadership has an opportunity to help shape the vision and impact of the future of social.

The mission of this session is to explore the impact of social business on core operations in order to understand the now and prepare for the future. Through this session, participants can gain exposure to the current state of social business activities and develop a shared understanding/benchmark of the current state of social business and surface key areas for further inquiry.
Following a review of current trends and best practices in social business, this session will offer a facilitated group discussion about the social business strategic agenda for 2013 and the success metrics to execute a strategic framework.
